Mr. Kwang-Ok Chae, President & CEO of Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle has been conferred with the 2009 Global Leaders¡¯ Award of Korea in recognition of his leadership to expand overseas market and improve product quality.
The award, organized by Forbes Korea and sponsored by Joongang Daily and Ministry of Knowledge & Economy, is given to businessmen who have led economic development of Korea. The award aims to encourage the awardees by bringing them to the spotlight, letting the nation know more about their distinctive management policy, values and perspective.
On Mr. Chae¡¯s selection for the award, Forbes Korea said, ¡°After taking the office as President & CEO of Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company in 2002, which was going through difficult time after the Asian financial crisis, Mr. Kwang-Ok Chae successfully turned around the company. After the company was acquired by Tata Motors, President Chae launched new vehicles into the market, putting the company on the right track towards growth within a short period of time. He is also committed to building a positive brand image of Novus, medium-sized truck and heavy-duty truck of Tata Daewoo.
