[Press Release]Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Is Selected as the Model Company for 2009 Jeonbuk Ente
¡Û Under Jeollarbuk-do Province act for Promotion of Business Activities, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle was selected as the Model company for year 2009 for making great contribution to boosting workers¡¯ morale and reinvigorating the local economy and was presented Model Company Award on June 11 by Lieutenant Governor for Political Affairs of Jeollabuk-do province, Mr. Wan-yong, Song on behalf of Governor Mr. Wan-Joo,Kim.

¡Û The award ceremony was held to mark Jeonbuk Enterprise Day 2009, with about 100 participants including Lieutenant Governor for Political affairs of Jeollarbuk-do province, Mr. Wan-yong Song, Vice Mayor of Gunsan city, Mr. Hak-jin Lee and the heads of economic institutions in the province as well as TDCV executives and employees.

¡Û The award is given once a year to the companies in the Jeollabuk-do province under 4 Categories. TDCV won the award this year under ¡°Large Category¡±

¡Û In his welcome speech, TDCV President Mr. Kwang-Ok Chae said, ¡°As a company headquartered in Gunsan and a member of local community, TDCV is committed to the development of local economy. Since 2004, when it was rechristened as Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle, the company has shown a remarkable growth and that was possible because of your assistance and attention. So I would like to ask for your continuous support to TDCV in the future as well.¡±

¡Û Lieutenant Governor Mr. Song, who delivered congratulatory message on behalf of Jeollarbuk-do Province Governor, said, ¡°Despite difficult economic situation, Tata Daewoo Commercial Vehicle Company is making great contribution to stimulate the local economy by raising productivity and promoting harmonious labor-management relationship.¡±

¡Û In his speech, president Chae emphasized that TDCV has recorded constant growth since its launch in 2004. Compared to FY2004-05, the company¡¯s performance in FY 2008-09 is outstanding. With continuous product development and investment in facilities, the product lineup has expanded from HCV to include MCV and production volume has increased by 100 percent to around 10,000 units (from 4,600 units). In particular, export has grown by about 400 percent (900 units to 4,300 units). In addition, the no. of employees has risen 60 percent from 800 in 2004 to 1270 in 2008, indicating the company¡¯s contribution to the local economy.

¡Û He further added that This year, as business environment is getting worse due to the global financial crisis, labor and management of TDCV have joined hands in overcoming the crisis and sharing the pain to maintain current employment level. Based on labor and management agreement, the company has given regular worker status to a certain number of non-regular workers each year. And this year was not an exception, either. With the cooperation of all employees and its commitment, the company managed to turn around 40 non-regular workers into regular workers, setting a good example even under difficult economic conditions. So far around 250 non-regular workers have got regular worker status in the company.

¡Û After the ceremony, the distinguished guests also visited the plant and the Tata Memorial Center, which was very much appreciated.
